Floating Shelves

In this two-week woodworking class, students will learn to build a sleek, modern floating shelf (approximately 12” x 48”) from start to finish. Perfect for beginners and intermediate woodworkers alike, this project-based class teaches essential skills while guiding students through the complete construction process.
Students will build the outer shelf box and the inner support frame, which mounts directly to your wall and gives the shelf its signature "floating" appearance. Along the way, you'll gain experience using a variety of tools, and also learn how to apply wood veneer to the shelf’s exterior, creating a smooth, professional-grade finish.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a beautifully constructed floating shelf—and the confidence to build more on your own. Price includes all materials and supplies except wood finish.

TableMaking
October 15-November 19
(Thursdays, 6-9 PM)

Prerequisite: Basic Woodworking
Need a new coffee table? Tired of feeling cramped at your current dining table? This is the perfect course for anyone who wants to learn to design and build a basic table.
The design of the table is up to each student - you can make anything from a simple end table to a large dining table. Each students can design their table around their home decor, and their budget.
Students will learn proper lamination methods for making a tabletop (that stays flat!) as well as mortise and tenon joinery for attaching the legs to the aprons. Included will be discussions covering proper architectural standards for designing the table, various edge treatments for table tops, and more. Each student can personalize their table with custom sizes and added features.
Plan on meeting at the lumberyard the Friday before this class starts, and we will walk you through the lumber buying experience. Once you’ve chosen and paid for your wood, all of the class lumber will be delivered to the shop the next week, so that you don’t need to worry about trasporting it there.
Students with a bit more experience might want to include a shelf below, or possibly a drawer. The type of wood is up to each student - as they will be required to furnish their own wood. A supply fee of $60 per person includes all supplies necessary for building a table, including adhesives, sanding supplies, tabletop attachment hardware, fasteners and more.

This Lampmaking class might be one of the most popular classes we offer!
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to construct a beautiful two-piece table lamp with a cleverly concealed interior compartment. The hidden space is perfect for storing jewelry, cash, keepsakes, weapons, or other small valuables.
The project also introduces compound joinery techniques that have applications far beyond this lamp. You’ll learn skills that can be used in projects involving angled joints, crown molding, baseboard installation, and other more advanced woodworking applications.
Each student will complete one finished lamp, with the possibility of having enough material to build a second lamp, depending on the size and design selected.
Whether you’re looking to expand your woodworking skills, learn new joinery techniques, or simply build a lamp with a great conversation-starting secret, this class offers a fun and practical project you’ll be proud to take home. (The mateial fee does not include the lampshade.)
